Being a fan of the franchise and a migrating World of Warcraft player during the Shadowlands crisis, I decided to give this game a try. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn offers an engaging story that, while rich and compelling, is staggered by its slow pacing, which took from the overall enjoyment for me. The game’s standout feature is its flexible job/class system, allowing players to switch roles with ease and explore various playstyles without the need to create new characters. The graphics, though fitting for an MMO, may not impress those accustomed to the visual fidelity of single-player RPGs. This is because the game is marketed as an RPG first, and MMO second, hence RPGMMO. One of my personal highlights is the seamless synchronization with higher-level friends, making it easy to team up and tackle challenges together regardless of level difference. Despite its slower moments, A Realm Reborn provides a solid MMO experience with enough charm to keep me committed. Much of the playerbase keeps saying that Final Fantasy XIV only gets better after A Realm Reborn, which makes me hopeful as I do plan on tackling the Heavensward expansion after I get my Dragoon job to level 50.
